A-Level Results Day 2025 – What to do next?

Here at IXL Tutors we want to wish you a HAPPY A-LEVEL RESULTS DAY. We hope that you are happy with the results that you have got, but either way you should be proud of the hard work you have put in over the last two years.

Here we will go through some of your options. You should always consult with a parent/guardian or a teacher over these decisions to get as much advice as you can.

University

One of the main options for you to consider if going to University to student a degree.

If you have met the conditions of their firm or insurance offer, your place should be confirmed automatically on UCAS Track. If you have exceeded your grades and want to consider other courses must now decline their place and reapply through Clearing if they choose to.

You can find a list of courses still available in clearing on UCAS or ring each University provider on results day.

Once you have your place secure you can then ensure you have student finance set-up, accommodation if you are moving into residential halls or a flat and begin packing to start your next adventure

Resit or re-mark

If you did not get the grades that you needed for your university course you have a couple of options to gain entry into Higher Education

1. Resit – You may wish to resit you’re A-Level results or study a further A-Level to gain the correct number of UCAS points. You should talk to your tutor to discuss this option

2. Re-mark – if you are just below the grade you hoped for your teacher may suggest or already put in for a re-mark. This may take some time to be completed so speak to your tutor about this

3. Foundation course – if you have your hopes set on a particular course speak to Universities about studying a foundation year which gives you access onto the programme. Please bear in mind this adds a year onto study but does set you up with the knowledge required for the programme.

Degree Apprenticeships

Another great option is to find a degree apprenticeship. This allows you to work and study (whilst also earning a salary).

degree apprenticeships are a fantastic option for A-level students on results day, especially for those who:

1. Don’t want to go to university full-time

2. Want to earn a salary while studying

3. Prefer practical, hands-on learning

4. Are unsure about taking on student debt

You can find information on degree apprenticeships on individual University pages or job sites. https://www.gov.uk/apply-apprenticeship

Gap Year or Full-time Employment

Now that you have completed your formal education you may wish to take a pause and get some hands-on experience in work. This can involve taking a gap year to travel abroad working part-time or get a full-time job to earn money to travel in the summer.

You may already have your university place and wish to defer this place for a year. This will allow you the freedom to explore other options before taking the leap of committing to a full-time degree.

Conclusion

Whatever you decide to do must ultimately be your decision and one you should consult advice with from the people that you trust.

If you have any questions or want further information on some of your options – drop us a message or DM.

Hope you all have a great A-Level results day
