Lee Allport
Biology Tutor
Hi, I’m Lee. I have a BSc (hons) in Biology and Biochemistry and an MA in Advanced Educational Practice. I started teaching in 1995 and taught full time until July 2025 when I moved to 3 days a week. In my long career I have taught in four very different schools; an all-boys, an all-girls and two mixed. I am a former Head of Biology and Assistant Head of Science as well as a head of year. I offer tuition in all three sciences at Key Stage 3 as well as GCSE and A Level Biology. In addition to teaching I have been an examiner for well over a decade and I am currently a marker, team leader and senior examiner for A Level Biology with one examination board whilst I also mark A Level Biology papers for another examination board.
Although new to iXL, I have privately tutored a number of students both online and face to face. I can offer excellent subject knowledge, with years of experience as well as an in-depth insight into how to successfully answer biology examination questions as well as how to negotiate biology examinations in general. Particularly at A Level. I am confident in my ability to be able to explain all topics to all ages in a way that will lead students to progress in the subject.
I am flexible and don’t mind tutoring one-to-one or small groups. I am happy to tutor along the course, “boost” students around test/exam times or be there specifically for exam question practice. Please get in touch if you wish to discuss anything in more depth.
