I have 30 years of English teaching experience, and I bring both subject expertise and a flexible, student-centred approach to virtual learning. I currently teach in both post-16 colleges, and secondary schools (delivering IGCSE, Pearson and AQA)  and I also run international online English training for students who are studying English IGCSE from other countries. My expertise in English language and literature allows me to effectively instruct students in areas such as grammar, academic writing, literary analysis, and exam preparation.  I tailor each session to meet individual goals, whether it’s mastering a novel, improving essay structure, or building competence in exam technique. My ability to break down complex ideas into manageable steps helps students feel confident and supported.

In addition, as a former Pastoral Lead in the Secondary School setting, I am also aware of the challenges and pressures that young people face. For some, English can feel overwhelming and like mountainous territory, and I really focus on applying strategies to help students evolve the right skills for the different focus of exam boards, exam questions and coursework.  I focus on building strong communication and trust, encouraging students to ask questions, express their ideas, and take ownership of their learning. By adapting to different learning styles and pacing, I ensure that every student gets the most out of our time together.
