My name is Paul Gannaway, and I have been teaching for over 30 years.

I teach Sociology and Geography, both at GCSE and A Level.  I have had most experience with AQA Sociology and Edexcel Pearson Geography, having marked exam papers for both boards at A Level.  One of the main ways of helping students is focusing on their exam technique – this is usually the biggest win, encouraging and supporting the students to be able to express their knowledge and understanding in a way that enables them to get the credit in an exam.  The skill of evaluation is key to this and is something I would look to develop in all students.  There is also no substitute for learning and widening key subject knowledge, as this is also important for the top grades.
